More about the festival
Artist Talk Back: The Routes of Vertical Dance Origin and History. 1960-2018, first generation

Wanda Moretti, artistic director and choreographer for Il Posto (Venice, Italy) will present her lecture "The Routes of Vertical Dance,” featuring the he first generation of vertical dance artists. Each artist presented in the history represents a different approach and an unique vision for vertical dance. On buildings, in urban and rural environments, on historical architectures, in nature, on mountains, on trees, in the theatre, suspended from a crane, from a bridge; each of these personal paths of movement on vertical planes reveals first-hand, personal experience, process, passion and performance. The presentation includes 14 short films (some rare) of early and contemporary vertical dance performances.

The Routes of Vertical Dance will be followed by a discussion with aerial dance pioneers Joanna Haigood (Zaccho Dance Theatre) , Amelia Rudolph (BANDALOOP) and Wanda Moretti, along with other festival artists, on the challenges and joys of this extraordinary field.
